Turning Brokenness into Beauty
Many of us are familiar with the saying, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Think about the dandelion. While one might see a weed, another might see a beautiful and vibrant yellow flower – or perhaps something that they can add to a salad that’s high in nutrients. It’s all a matter of perspective. And in several cultures across the globe, beauty is celebrated in unique ways, depending on how it’s viewed. In Japan, for example, broken objects are often repaired with gold. The flaw is seen as a unique piece of the object’s history – which adds to its beauty. Thinking about yourself and your own life, what do you consider “broken?” And how might another see this “flaw” as beauty? These…

Dancing with the Contrast of Darkness and Light
Our lunar goddess is rich with wisdom. Through her phases, she teaches us how to move from darkness into light with the gracefulness of a ballroom dance. We step in, we step out – and we circle back around again. And with each step of this dance, we gain a new experience – a new awareness. What do we receive in darkness that we may not see in the light? And how does the light magnify what’s tucked away in darkness? This is where the gift of contrast comes in – and how the wisdom of the moon serves as a wonderful teacher. Imagine looking up at the night sky during a first quarter lunar phase – and seeing a moon that’s half lit. It…

Manifesting Money – and Miracles
Whether we realize it or not, many of us are stuck in a “money pattern” – and it affects everything we think, see, and do around money. Our beliefs about money have been handed down to us through generations, in a variety of different ways, shaping how we view the subject of money. Think about the news you see on television or hear on the radio or read in the newspaper. How much of it is fear-based? How much of it stems from scarcity – the fear of never having enough or being good enough? Our relationship with money is not just a series of practical actions. If that’s all it required, everyone would have an easy time with it. The truth is – there’s…

Where Are You Facing a Creative Struggle?
Spring came knocking at the door earlier this week, but winter refused to open it! As evidenced by these ice crystals spotted around my local pond yesterday, there appears to be a real struggle going on between these two. And to add to it, winter has decided to give us one more snowstorm. Yep, March has definitely come in like a lion – and may go out like one, too! As a lover of symbolism, I’m always paying attention to signs from nature – and how they want to guide my creative process. So I’m asking myself, what wants to be noticed here? As I witness the crocuses popping up through the ground – and admire the glistening of the ice crystals, I can’t help…

Creating in the Messiness of Life
Life is always ebbing and flowing. We may find ourselves at various points – moving in and out, up and down, exploring and experimenting – and circling back around to where we started, but with a heightened sense of awareness and understanding. The same is true in the creation process. Creativity ebbs and flows – with surprises and new discoveries always being made, regardless of where we’ve started or the journey we’ve taken. There’s always something new that wants to be noticed – and it seems to come when we least expect it. On my daily five-mile walks, I’m always noticing how nature communicates with me. And this week, after the storms we’ve had here in the Northeast of the United States, I noticed the…
