What Makes You Want to Pray?

Book of PrayersHow does prayer serve your life? How does it impact your creative process?

I’m delighted to welcome my colleague Jennifer Urezzio to my blog today to discuss how simple prayers can transform your life. Her book, A Little Book of Prayers was recently released on Amazon.

After speaking to thousands of individuals about their prayers, Jennifer noticed the same issues kept coming up. Believing that there must be a more powerful way of asking, accepting and claiming what we desire from the Divine, she created A Little Book of Prayers.

This book is a collection of prayers that Jennifer and her community have used to transform their lives.

And today, she’s here to share a bit of wisdom about the power of prayer.

******************************************************************

When do you stop to pray or connect with the Divine? Is it when you are in struggle, to give thanks, and/or all the time?

I know how powerful prayer and conversation with the Divine can be to help us collaborate and create with Universal good to receive our heart’s desire. And, I also know that I have prayed as a victim and from a place of lack rather than a place of knowing that the Divine hears my conversation and all the quantum particles are moving into action to create the answer to my prayers (or something much bigger and better). So how can you create a more powerful prayer practice?

The first step is to understand where you are praying from – lack or praise. To me, lack often feels like a prayer of begging and pleading, while praise feels like a willingness to understand that all that we wish is within us to receive.

If you are praying from a place of lack, here’s a suggestion for moving to praise by simply using your body’s Divine Intelligence to place you in a consciousness to receive. Before any prayer or affirmation, simply state, “Divine Intelligence, fill my body with the knowing and the experience of feeling whole and complete.”

Here’s the really amazing thing. If you have never felt this before, your body knows how to put you in that consciousness. All you “have to do” is allow (and that might take a little bit of practice).

The second step is to understand what the big theme of your prayers is. Why? Because all that stuff you are praying for is really so you can feel safe, supported, loved, free, etc. These are big themes! I suggest that my clients stop praying or praising for the small stuff and start praising for the big stuff (like love, support, safety, freedom, etc.).

Now, it is up to you to utilize this new knowledge. I suggest you write out a simple prayer and state to the Divine, “Here is what I know is possible. How can we work together to ensure that it manifests in my life?”

Here’s an example, “God, I’m so happy and grateful that I am experiencing profound freedom and safety in my life!”

And, each day as you say your prayer, ask the Divine what you get to be, do and embody to manifest the truth of that prayer.

Thanks for this Tina. Loved: “Divine Intelligence, fill my body with the knowing and the experience of feeling whole and complete.” I have long practiced prayer but haven’t tried that approach.

    Sounds like a wonderful book.

It is a go-to for me…I have been using it for years and I also like Divine Intelligence fill my body with the knowing that I am safe….

      Thanks for reading the blog…

Wonderful interview, Tina. I feel such an alignment with Jennifer. My work is all about developing the inner connection. I don’t use the word prayer because people often don’t include listening as part of that process. I so appreciate Jennifer’s inclusion of the full spectrum of this circulation of energy.

Thank you for this Tina. Love how she shows the connection with praying for the big stuff as well as stating to the Devine “Here is what I know is possible. How can we work together to ensure that it manifests in my life?” It’s a good start.

There has been many times where I had to throw up my hands in the air and say…how can we work together…thanks for reading the blog. All the best to you!

So beautiful. I tried saying “Divine intelligence, fill my body with the knowing and the experience of feeling whole and complete.” Something definitely shifted in my body. Thank you so much for this wonderful post, Tina.

I agree, it is important to pray from a place of gratitude and fulfillment.

    Lea:
I’m so excited that you felt a shift…I suggest you keep saying the statement and see what grows…The first time I did it there was a big shift and even today I still feel “things” snapping into place…

Thank you for reading the post.

What a great interview Tina! Thanks for sharing about Jennifer’s work! It’s so true, I really felt identified when she said that sometimes we pray from a place of lack or fear…I’ve been there sometimes, and it’s true, we’re oretty much begging.
I tried the statement she suggested for moving to praise “Divine Intelligence, fill my body with the knowing and the experience of feeling whole and complete” and I could feel a shift immediately in my body, my energy was more expansive.
Loved the interview and will definitely check out her work 🙂
